Permit Application & Inspection Procedures

Permit Application Submittal

  • All applications and all documents associated with the application can be emailed to Building Department. All items need to be in 1 email and not in separate emails.
  • All applications and all documents associated with the application can be dropped off in our lobby drop box during office hours. 8 am to 3 pm.

If you are in an HOA development, an HOA approval letter must be included with the permit application for all exterior work if the letter is not with the packet. Your plans will be delayed or denied.

  • If plans are emailed in, you will receive confirmation that Building Department received the application and are in review.
  • Once plans are reviewed by our staff, you will receive an email or phone call that plans have been reviewed. Payment for permits can be made with a credit card over the phone, or a check can be dropped off in our lobby drop box or mailed to us.

Commercial Event Application

If you are planning an event, an event application needs to be completed. All applications must be turned in 90 days prior to the event to ensure enough time for the departments involved, along with the Trustees, enough time to review them. Any permits that will be needed must be turned in at this time, too (i.e., for tents, and electrical). If you have any questions regarding this process, please contact the Building Department.

Changes To The Residential Code of Ohio

As of July 1, 2019, the 2019 Residential Code of Ohio (RCO) (PDF) will come into effect. The changes to the residential code have numerous changes that will affect residential construction. Please review the bulletin (PDF) listing those that most affect applications made to the Olmsted Township Building Department.  If you have any questions, contact the Building Official.
