Olmsted Township is committed to maintaining safe, clean, and orderly neighborhoods. Our Building and Zoning staff work to ensure that properties comply with the standards established by Township Resolutions and the Ohio Revised Code.

The list below outlines examples of conditions that are subject to enforcement and those that fall outside the Township’s authority.


Example Matters Subject to Township Enforcement


• Grass and vegetation that exceed allowable height limits (ORC 505.87)

• Trash or garbage that is not properly stored in containers (ORC 505.87)

• Debris, discarded materials, or accumulation of junk within a yard (ORC 505.87)

• Improper storage of recreational vehicles (OTZR 210.08 (d))

• Parking of vehicles on grass or unapproved gravel areas (OTZR 210.08 (c))

• Storage of boats or trailers on residential property in violation of zoning requirements (OTZR 210.08 (d))

• Junk/inoperative motor vehicles (OTZR 210.08 (e))

• Work without a building permit (OTBC 1303.10)

• Home occupations (OTZR 210.09)


Example Matters Not Subject to Township Enforcement


• Leaves or natural debris falling from trees

• Neighbor disputes regarding property lines or encroachments

• Rodents, insects, or nuisance animals

• Vacant homes that are secure and do not meet the requirements of Section 505.86 of the Ohio Revised Code

• Tree limbs or branches extending over adjoining property lines

• House exteriors that are structurally sound and weather-tight
